Sunshine Days

About

Sunshine Days is a cosy mobile MMO currently in development by Netspeak Games, where I was Creative Director from 2021-2024. Aiming to stand out in the burgeoning market for wholesome games, Sunshine Days differentiates itself by building a multiplayer-first world where kindness and positivity are at the game’s core. Sunshine Valley is an inclusive place, and the game makes a particular point welcoming players with LGBTQIA+ identities. The player’s role is to help a community of eclectic animal NPCs rebuild their town, all the while creating a home for themselves and befriending other players.

My role as Creative Director meant that I was deeply involved in many aspects of the game’s development, including game design, creative development and people management. As a highly data- and research-led company, my responsibility was to make sure that all elements of the game’s development were informed by a strong core understanding of the players we were hoping to appeal to. I was also responsible for the game’s brand voice, meaning I was involved in UA and community marketing, as well as representing the game in B2B contexts. I joined Netspeak following their seed round when the studio consisted of only 12 people, and was a part of the journey which led to a £12m Series A and eventually growing to a team of over 40.
